Colony Counter 800 / Colony Counter 1300
Colonies of bacteria or other microorganisms are growing on an agar plate. A sterile Petri dish (or Petri plate or cell culture dish) with a diameter of 100 mm (inner diameter of 90 mm), made out of glass or plastic (mostly polystyrene) is a cylindrical dish with a lid and is typically used to culture cells. Also 50 mm diameter dishes and so called multi-well plates (MTP) can be used in Herolab’s new Colony Counter.
For the different applications both Cell Colony Counters have the following standard illuminations built-in:
· Backlight, white, extremely homogenously and dimmable
· Epi-Illumination, indirect white light reflection
· Epi-illumination, indirect with blue light of 470 nm wavelength
· Darkfield illumination, dark background with light not directly collected from the camera
The illumination is designed with LED´s for an extreme long lifetime.
The newly designed Herolab Colony Counter together with a special module of the E.A.S.Y.® Win32 software counts the colonies electronically, by identifying individual areas of dark and light according to automatic or user-set thresholds, and counting the resulting contrasting spots including quantification by a fingertip.
