Versions and selection
UZ tubes for ultracentrifugation are available in PPCO or PC. Thin-walled, thick-walled and threaded versions are listed by catalogue number. Not every material is offered in every design.
Rotor and filling volume
Select the tube using the catalogue number, dimensions, filling volume and rotor assignment. Closure scope depends on the catalogue number. Order separately listed caps as additional items; catalogue item 25 34 25 is listed with a white cap. Nominal volume and filling volume are not interchangeable.
Catalogue testing was performed for 24 hours at 4 °C. Listed speed limits and test values must not be transferred to other applications without considering the filling level, rotor and process conditions.
Materials and reuse
Chemical resistance depends on the plastic, sample medium, concentration and temperature. PC is sensitive to many organic solvents and alkaline solutions; PE is not autoclavable.
For PPCO, PC and PF, the catalogue specifies 20 minutes at 121 °C and 103 kPa. Remove closures completely before autoclaving. Repeated autoclaving can reduce mechanical strength. Check vessels for cracks and deformation before each use; do not reuse damaged vessels. Closures and seals are subject to their own material requirements.
