Inert Gas Purging System

Nitrogen purging reduces the oxygen concentration in the centrifuge chamber. Instrument configuration and operating conditions are defined for the intended process.

Purging and shutdown functions

  • Monitoring, shutdown functions and gas supply are specified for the selected instrument configuration.
  • During a safety-related shutdown, the relevant components are de-energised and the rotor coasts unbraked to a standstill.
  • Bypass purging during a power failure requires the corresponding instrument configuration and an available gas supply.

Suitability for the sample medium and operating conditions is assessed before configuration approval. Nitrogen purging alone does not constitute explosion protection certification.
